Andrus, Deborah E. (Clarinet)
Equal parts entrepreneur, educator and clarinetist, Deborah Andrus believes that what is required to face a musical challenge is a solid plan and a supportive mentor. Dr. Andrus teaches students of all levels and abilities how to creatively solve their clarinet challenges.
Dr. Andrus wrote the clarinet portion of Teaching Woodwinds, a woodwind methods resource for music educators, which was called in a review in The Clarinet as a “…hands-on book with excellent audio examples…as well as a wealth of videos and resources.” Beyond Teaching Woodwinds for Mountain Peak Music, Dr. Andrus is the author of The Chalumeau Register, published in 2020. Her newest book, co-authored with Michelle Anderson, is titled DIY Clarinet and is published by Hal Leonard.
In addition to her work as a music educator and clarinet pedagogue, Dr. Andrus is the clarinet professor at both Lehigh and Kutztown Universities in Pennsylvania.
