
Zapata, Oswaldo (Trumpet)
Oswaldo Zapata, originally from Caldas, Antioquia, Colombia, is Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. Zapata holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance with an Emphasis in Instrumental Pedagogy from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, a Certificate of Graduate Study in Music Performance and a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of South Carolina, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance from Arizona State University. He has studied under Professors Fernando Parra, James Ackley, Allen Vizzutti, and David Hickman. Dr. Zapata was previously Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Director of Mariachi at Texas A&M International University, and has performed with the San Antonio Philharmonic, Laredo Philharmonic, Mid-Texas Symphony, Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, and Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, among others.
